The FREEDOM to adapt and CHANGE.
While I’m a Yorkshire girl, most Winters you’ll find me in the mountains with my snowboard, being inspired by incredible views. Summers are spent touring around the countryside in France, Spain, Portugal and the UK with my partner in our little red van. Making sure there’s plenty of opportunity to feel grounded with some sun salutations each day, my morning pages (thank you The Artist Way) and an uplifting meditation (Gabby Bernstein is my fave) to get my day off to the most delicious of starts.
I don’t take this Freedom for granted, having worked in the wedding industry for over 12 years as a Makeup Artist, my weekends were spent travelling across the UK and France.
Being thrown into a wedding morning with half a dozen women experiencing nerves, excitement and every single emotion in between, brought my intuition forward.
Understanding what someone wants and needs without them even knowing themselves was something I came to perfect. In 2020 everything changed. The business I had built over the past decade, came to a halt as the wedding industry closed thanks to covid. I never realised at the time that a global pandemic would change my career path completely. I’d built a successful brand and business by being the real me. So why could I not do the same for other people?
Knowing the impact I could make on other people’s businesses sparked a fire in my belly. Never one to sit and wait for things to happen. I pivoted, hard. Years spent immersed in the industry and soulfully attracting the clients I wanted to work with was such an invaluable lesson. I took that wisdom and passion to help businesses who weren’t experts in social media and digital marketing to show up online and be visible, so they too could soulfully attract their dream clients. Just like I had done for 12 years. Fast forward several years and here I am, living the creative life I wished for. Supporting female business owners and entrepreneurs building successful careers. Sometimes I have proper pinch me moments.
SHAKE IT OFF!
Forever sounding like I was writing a financial planning report, was not what I wanted to be known for, but as soon as I started to shake off this version and tap into the real me. I had a realisation. Showing up as my real honest Yorkshire self, led me to attract my ideal clients. I began to connect more with those I wanted to work with. At every opportunity I simply showed up as me.
As someone who spent a version of their previous life working in a corporate background, I know how tricky it can be to shake off the corporate mentality and write in your own voice for your business.
And you know what? It worked. And it can work for you too.
